Robert has nearly 20 years of oil and gas experience. He obtained his Honours B.B.A. (Bachelors of Business Administration) from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario before starting with Shell Canada. After a short stint in the Toronto office, Robert was transferred westward to Calgary, a city he now happily calls home. Most recently Robert completed his Certificate in Business Analysis from Mount Royal University in Calgary.
Robert has a wide background in Business Analysis and in the oil and gas sector specifically. Some highlights of his career:
Assisted with the implementation, roll out and extension of Intergraph’s Smart Plant Materials application at Nexen Energy. Smart Plant is being used for materials management for Nexen’s Long Lake oil sands project and Robert’s worked encompassed all aspects of Business Analysis from requirements gathering to process definition, testing and documentation.
Implemented a new Capital Management System for Enerplus Resources, using esi.manage software from 3esi Corporation. Robert’s work focused on ensuring key business and data flows worked as expected and training new users on the new tool and processes.
While working for Baytex Energy, Robert was their first formal BA and implemented a new structured process for projects and application upgrades.
Successfully transferred the applications and processes of the AEGS pipeline system from BP Canada to their new owner, Fort Chicago Energy Partners.
Documented and refined the key processes for the Cochin Pipeline at BP Canada. From this an RFP/RFQ process was initiated for a completely new volumes and tariffs system for the pipeline. Cochin was sold to Kinder-Morgan Canada soon afterwards, ending this project.
